Search Engine Optimisation Methodology

The VPC Optimisation Method is an approach developed in response to a current lack of formal procedural standards in what is still quite an undeveloped engineering discipline.

Following the prescribed steps helps both the SEO consultant and the client to retain an overview of what is being done, and to what end.

The method is iterative, and there are six components in each cycle:

Focus

The key to improving your visibility in internet search engine results is to start with a very clear idea of what you want to acheive. Part of this involves getting to a point where you can focus upon, and predict, the likely behaviour of the visitors you want to attract.

Context

Search engine site ranking is a competition. If your ranking goes up, then someone else's ranking must go down. Do you know who your nearest ranking search engine competitors are? Which company figures most obviously on the results page ahead of you? Why? Few organisations have the the resources "in house" to analyse in depth the context in which this competition occurs.

Site Structure

The way in which a web site is organised, and the links into and out of the pages can have a significant impact on how the search engines rank you. I can analyse your existing site structure and links, and offer advice on specific improvements you may wish to consider.

Metadata

Some search engines consider the metadata  behind your pages when ranking you. Is your metadata optimized for your business? I can analyse your metadata and suggest possible improvements.

Site Content

Sometimes, making changes to the actual content of your site can improve your chances of gaining a better ranking. I can advise on how to gain maximum "leverage" from site content alterations.

Consolidation

All the above threads need to be consolidated  as a "package of change" which is implemented in controlled manner. The process is iterative. That is, you start making small changes, monitor the results, and then repeat the process - at each stage refining and improving on the work that has already been done, until the required results are acheived.
